3. Encoding and Decoding
The airline industry uses a system that identifies each city, airport, country, state or airline by a unique code
Codes are administered by the International Air Transport Association (IATA), and the International Standards Organisation (ISO)
With these codes, you can identify cities, airports, countries, states and airlines quicly and efficiently

4. Encode & Decode
Amadeus provides you with the ability to encode and decode:
Airline codes and names
Airport and city codes and names
State and country codes and names
Aircraft equipment codes and names
Hotel and car rental companies
Encode means to convert a full name to its code
Decode means to convert a code to its full name
Three-letter code: Cities, and airports
Two-letter code: Countries, airlines, hotels, and rent-a-cars

Note that many cities have the same name, but are located in different countries, e.g. Paris (France, USA)

10. Airports Many major cities have more than one airport
e.g. New York has 8 airports
each airport has its own three-letter code

11. Decoding City or Airport Codes
To display the name for a three-character city or airport code, enter: DAC SFO
Note: The asterisk (*) next to SFO shows that SFO is a city code served by more than one airport and SFO is also the code of one of the airports.

To display two-letter code for a country name: DC JAPAN
To display a country name for a two-letter code, enter: DC JP

24. Availability, Schedule, and Timetable display
Availability and schedule displays contain flights for airlines that have a sales agreement with Amadeus.
You can request schedule and availability for 361 days in the future, and 3 days in the past.
There are four different types of flights that are displayed in the following order:
Non-stop flights – flight operates between two cities without any stops
Direct flights with stops en route – for refuel or to pick up the passengers...
Connecting flights - when passenger can not reach the final destination with the one flight. He has to change an aircraft, and the flight number.
Change of gauge (Change of equipment) – the same flight number, but a different aircraft

Flights that have at least one class available for sale or waitlist
Schedules
Air scheduled flights wheather they have seats available or not
Timetable
Flights information of all airlines operating during a specified one-week period
Direct Access
The ability to access a specific airline reservation system directly
