2. Key Stage 4 Curriculum OFSTED May 2015 stated that:
“The curriculum is broad and balanced. It is carefully organised to support the achievement of students of different abilities. Students can study a wide range of courses, including GCSEs and vocational programmes.”

3. What has the government changed in Key Stage 4?
GCSEs are linear in structure – examinations are taken at the end of the course.
Increase in the number of exam papers for each subject.
GCSEs graded 1-9
Very little or no Controlled Assessment in most subjects.
Progress 8 – students are measured on their progress across their best 8 subjects.

6. What are Pathways?
The Pathways have been created to make sure that students are able to choose subjects that are most suitable for their ability.
The Pathways are:
Purple
Green
Blue
Students will be allocated a Pathway based on progress during KS3, including English/Maths exams.
