BEYOND VOICE RADIO Multi Purpose Multi Peripheral
The BVR Controller is equipped with a large variety of peripheral interfaces and ports, allowing it to interact with a diverse set of equipment, as well as providing opportunity for creative use of modern user interfaces. It seamlessly integrates the interfacing of older ‘hardwired’ equipment, devices that require serial connections and newer products that might utilise Ethernet connections into one unified device. This eliminates the need of having separate monitoring interfaces for each field device. Its potential functionality is increased even further by being able to make use of USB ports, removable storage and an HDMI port. This would open up possibilities for interfacing with touchscreens, cameras and smart sensors. Multi Protocol The BVR Controller is not merely a collection of ports – its power lies in its ability to communicate between different ports and protocols intelligently, automatically and effortlessly. The firmware that governs the BVR Controller is not only flexible in the protocols it uses, but it can also translate between different protocols – for example, the SCADA Master could send a Modbus TCP request, that would then be received by the field device as a Modbus RTU request. Additionally, the SCADA Master could manipulate on-board I/O (Digital/Analogue/Relays) directly over-the-air. This would allow for one single server PC to remotely control and process information from a variety of field devices, which may be using different communication protocols, and each communicating with different BVR Controllers at different locations over a radio link. Multi Purpose The design of the BVR Controller results in a “Swiss Army Knife” built for communications – with many different tools and many different ways to use them. The BVR Controller is also a stand-alone product, in that it is not reliant on other specific products to work. While able to readily communicate over radio networks, it is not tied to a specific system. It can be used in conjunction with existing field equipment, requiring minimum changes for a unified system. It is also programmable, allowing the user to design their own HMI or to take the monitoring process beyond the transferring of SCADA and Telemetry data. As a result, the uses of the BVR Controller is limited more by the creativity of the user than by the build of the board.

MSB – Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency
MSB and Rakel MSB – Swedish Civil Contingencies Agency The MSB is responsible for issues concerning civil protection, public safety, emergency management and civil defense as long as no other authority has responsibility. Responsibility refers to measures taken before, during and after an emergency or crisis. Rakel Rakel is the Swedish national digital communications system used by the emergency services and others in the fields of civil protection, public safety and security, emergency medical services and healthcare. Rakel is mainly used for PPDR voice, but also enables telematics for various uses.
