2 Reflexive Verbs Reflexive verbs are used to tell that a person does something to or for him- or herself.

3 Reflexive Verbs Reflexive verbs have two parts: a reflexive pronoun (me, te, se, nos, se) 2. and a verb form.

5 Reflexive Verbs In English, we really don’t identify with reflexive verbs. So these will seem strange to you.

6 Reflexive Verbs In English, a sentence using a “so called” reflexive verb might be… Lauren brushes her hair. Scott bathes himself.

7 Reflexive Verbs You must remember that these are actions being done to oneself, by oneself. For example: I wash my (my own) hair.

8 Reflexive Pronouns nos (to or for ourselves) me (to or for myself)
os (to or for you all) se (to or for themselves, you all, or each other) me (to or for myself) te (to or for yourself) se (to or for himself, herself, itself)

9 TO WASH ONESELF LAVARSE
I wash myself You wash yourself He, She, It washes himself, etc. We wash ourselves They wash themselves

10 LAVARSE me lavo te lavas se lava nos lavamos os laváis se lavan

11 Reflexive Pronouns They can either go before a conjugated verb or attached to an infinitive.

12 Reflexive Pronouns Me voy a lavar el pelo.
Before the conjugated verb: Me voy a lavar el pelo. After the infinitive attached: Voy a lavarme el pelo.

16 Reflexive Verbs When using reflexive verbs to talk about parts of the body, use the definite article. (the el, la, los, las that mean “the”)

The reflexive can change the meaning in a sentence. Marta pone la blusa en la mochila. Marta puts the blouse in the bag. Marta se pone la blusa. Marta puts on her blouse. Marta duerme ocho horas. Marta sleeps eight hours. Marta se duerme enseguida. Marta goes to sleep immediately.

27 Verbos reflexivos Diferencias: Marta llama a Carlos.
The reflexive can change the meaning in a sentence. Marta llama a Carlos. Marta calls Carlos. Ella se llama Marta. She calls herself Marta (Her name is Marta) Marta divierte a sus amigos. Marta amuses her friends. Marta se divierte. Marta amuses herself (Has fun).
