2. SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY – Eva Smith SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY – Eva Smith Social responsibility is one of the most important aspects of a human existence and personality. It is about being accountable for your actions. Priestley uses his play to discuss his views about responsibility because he wants everyone to be equal and everyone should care about people, not just about themselves. Priestley conveys his own personal ideas about the social class and to emphasise that people should help each other within the play. This can be seen through Inspector Goole, who could be seen as a mouthpiece for Priestley’s opinion in the play. This is why the author introduced someone in the play who ‘creates at once an impression of massiveness, solidity and purposefulness’ this suggests that the Inspector is very serious and he wants to do his duty and also to show Eva Smith like a character who was in need of help from others. Also, he used Eva Smith to show us struggles of how lower class women were treated in the work place by the upper class. He again wants to emphasise that the lower classes need help and support from those above them which highlights the importance of being socially responsible and equality.

3. SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY – Eva Smith The ending of the play is important because we are left thinking that Priestley wants us to be responsible for each other. He wants us to be aware of how the lower class was treated by upper class. The quote that shows this is the Inspector’s speech before he leaves ‘We are responsible for each other.’ This means that everyone should be equal and care about each other. The plural pronoun ‘WE’ suggests that everyone is from one body and everyone should stand together. However, Priestley does portray some aspects of the Birling family in a good light with the younger generation. He emphasise social class with the reformation of Sheila throughout the play. Some people disagree with the concept of helping each other and be responsible for each other because they believe that they don’t have time to help them.

4. SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY – Eva Smith and Birling’s family Social responsibility is one of the most important aspects of a human existence and personality. It is about being accountable for your actions. I think we should be responsible for each other. There are many reasons why I believe this. For example we need each other, it creates a more equal society and we will have a positive influence on future generation. The first reason I believe this is because we all have moral responsibility to support each other. Furthermore, I think that it will help us to create a moral equal society. This is also true because it will have a positive influence on future generation. If we care about people also people can cares for us. Also, if we will make sure that all people are treated equally everyone will be happy and cares for others because it’s not very hard to help someone who need help because if we was in the same problem we also want help from others. Support people is something that you can help one person who will be happy and when you see that person thanks to you and also said that with your help he is in life or something like that you will be more happy.On the other hand, other people may think that we should not focus on ourselves because we are important. In conclusion, I think that WE SHOLD be responsible for each other because God said that to look and help each other.
