Arrival Procedures Please use Amherst to gain access to parking lot during drop off. Drop off time is 7:15-7:45am. Please do not drop students off prior to 7:15 am. Staff members are not on duty until 7:15 am therefore, there will be no one to supervise your student until that time. For the safety of our students all car riders need to be dropped off in the drop off line in front on the Purdue side. We will allow you to walk your child in until August 31. If your child arrives after the tardy bell at 7:50 am, please escort your child into the building. You must sign them in as tardy in the office.
12
Pick up Procedures Dismissal time is 3:10 pm for Kinder through fifth and 2:50 pm for Pre K. Pick up time is 3:00-3:20 pm. You will use the same procedures for pick up as you do for arrival. There is a separate line for PK in the afternoons. Blue Car Tags MUST be in window for pick-up. Otherwise they have to go in with a drivers license. If there is a change in the way your student(s) is/are going home, please notify the front office prior to 2:00pm. If the teacher/office does not receive a note or phone call, the student will go home the scheduled way. Please do not leave a message because we may not receive it in time for dismissal. Students will only be allowed to ride their assigned bus to and from school. PK students must have someone at bus stop or they will return to school. We would like to remind you to use caution and safety when driving within the school zone, school parking lots, and school driveways. It is of utmost importance that all our Cougars arrive and leave safely.

Attendance: Attendance is vital to our students’ overall academic success. College Park will follow the district and state attendance guidelines. All students are encouraged to attend school every day. Perfect attendance will be recognized each nine weeks at the Awards’ ceremonies. To receive Perfect Attendance a student must have zero tardies, zero early outs, and zero absences of any kind. Students with perfect attendance will be in a raffle for large prizes such as bicycles or Kindle Fires at the mid-year and end of the year drawings. Absences: When a student returns from being absent, please send a written note of explanation or doctor’s note within 3 school days. After a significant amount of absences, a student may be required to submit a doctor’s note for all future absences. According to the mandatory attendance law students must be present 90% of the year. Student will be required to make up missed time or attend summer school to be promoted if they miss more than 10% of the year.

Who is Miss Gonzales? About me: I graduated from Barbers Hill and then moved on to receive my degree in Education from Sam Houston State University. This is my first year as a teacher and I could not be more thrilled to be teaching Pre-K! I have always said that it was my dream job! Expectations for Students: I expect all my students to work hard and try their best in what ever we are learning. I maintain very high expectations in my classroom. I teach as if I am teaching Kindergarten but in a way for them to understand and comprehend the subject matter. I expect my students to maintain acceptable behavior and have respect for their teachers and other students around them. Be prompt Ready to learn Have all materials daily Participation, Participation, Participation Expectations for Parents: I expect my students’ parents to work with their child every night on concepts we are learning. Especially if your child is struggling with certain concepts. Working with your child daily can only help improve their comprehension and help them succeed in school. Your child NEEDS your support. They need their learning to be reinforced at home every single day. *Library* Each class will have a scheduled time to come to the library each week. There are also daily opportunities for students to exchange books. Please help your child return library books in a timely manner, so that they may check out new ones regularly. At College Park, we encourage students to read every day -- at school and at home, independently and with a partner, for information and for pleasure. Why not begin a family reading time at your house? Ms. Newman
26
Accelerated Reader AR is not our reading program, but a tool we use to help students practice and improve reading skills. Increased vocabulary is crucial for learning in all subjects. Students will be reading before and after school while waiting for the bell to ring. The more we read, the better we get, and the more enjoyment it brings. Your student will have a reading level and a end of the year personal AR goal. Incentives will be given each 9 weeks to encourage students to reach their personal goal.
27
Grades and Homework You should be reading with your child every night. 5-10 minutes a night is manageable. Before you know it, they will be reading to YOU! Occasional Homework Homework folder and Homework calendar after Parent conferences in October. We have 3 testing periods. October February June
