4 OBJECTIVES 'The Rangers Way‘ is a holistic approach to player development Create a challenging, yet fun environment Prioritize technical skill development over results Create match like conditions that will ensure players gain the technique and confidence needed to progress in the sport Falls in line with US Soccer’s Long Term Player Development model of “learning how to train”

5 Expectations from the Program Paid coaches and technical support staff Unified curriculum and proper implementation Emphasis on development over winning “Guided Discovery” method of teaching Competition internally and through “friendlies” vs clubs close to Bellingham Two yearly evaluations- November/April Educate, communicate and support parents and players to the best of our ability

6 Unified Training Curriculum Age appropriate and based on latest research of youth development Coaches will be trained and supported to implement our curriculum so that terminology and technique is consistent Focus on technical proficiency Application of technique and decision-making in game-like environment Emphasis on character development and personal growth through introduction of team concepts

7 WRFC partnership with Brian J. Weeda,( MS, PT, AT) to implement a K.I.P.P 15-10 program The program will take 15 min before games and practices and 10 min after Coaches are certified in implementation of the program Builds core strength vital to proper balance and stability Up-to-date exercises for knee injury prevention Benefits extend beyond soccer KIPP 15-10 KNEE INJURY PREVENTION PROGRAM

10 Parents Role in Player Development Guidelines for parents: 1)Do not coach from the sidelines 2)Do not disrespect the officials, the coach, or players 3)Help kids find their passion instead of deciding what they should be passionate about 4) Ensure they have a balanced life away from sport 5) Ensure that sports are an extension of the things you value at home- integrity, effort, sportsmanship 6) Value their effort, focus and process of learning, not results 7) Be patient! 8) Enjoy watching them play https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oR3AGB8Yxe8

11 Rangers 1-3-2-3, Why a unified playing philosophy? System encourages and supports passing and possession oriented soccer (supportive triangles) Allows for easier transition from attacking to defending Will allow for RDP players to easily transition into playing a 1-4-3-3 on future Ranger teams Rotation of players into all positions throughout the season Inclusion of a restraining line (punts/goalkicks) will encourage teams to build out of the back using proper passing and support

12 4 Boys Teams Arsenal Barcelona Bayern Munich Ajax 4 Girls Teams Reign Thorns Breakers Sky Blue Formation of Teams Talent will be dispersed evenly throughout 4 teams of each gender based primarily on tryout results Teams will be assessed during first week of training (Aug. 9/11 th ) and changes will be made if necessary All 8 teams will train at NWSP from 5-6:30pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays Goalkeepers will be pulled out of team training once per week to train with the RDP Goalkeeping Coordinator

13 Rangers Futsal Academy 4-week session in December and another 4-week session in February. Not compulsory. Two separate registrations. What is Futsal? “futsal” is an abbreviation for ‘football de salao’ (Portuguese) or ‘football sala’ (Spanish) which means indoor soccer Originated in South America and has become very popular around the world. Futsal is the only 5 aside indoor game recognized and sanctioned by FIFA. Played on a gym like surface with a smaller heavier ball with less bounce for better ball control Promotes skill and player development
