4 Boy’s Captain – George Taplin Girl’s Captain – Emily Heslop Roles and Responsibilities: - Assist Coaches when necessary in training + competition - Assist with communication between swimmers + coaches - Help to educate and mentor younger swimmers - Responsible for team support at competitions

6 PERFORMANCE 1 Lead Coach: John Adye (Up to 15 Swimmers) AGE GROUP 1 Lead Coach: TBC (10-15 Swimmers) JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT Lead Coach: Gary Mohamed (20-25 Swimmers) AGE GROUP 2 (Assistant Coach TBC) (20) PERFORMANCE 2 Lead Coach: John Adye (10-15 Swimmers) AGE GROUP 2 Lead Coach: TBC (10-15 Swimmers)

7 Squad Criteria Attend 5 sessions per week Must show willingness and commitment to improving Must be committed to being the best they can be Should target success and County and Regional Level Squad Aims To improve technique on all four strokes To improve race skills (starts/turns/finishes) To develop an effective leg kick To develop speed over a short distance 25-50m To develop a basic aerobic endurance Learn how to get the most out of competitions

8 Age Group 1: Must train and compete with high standard technique and skill level Must be self-motivated Qualify for regional level competition in multiple events Aim for national competition Attend 6 sessions 7 th Session at Coach’s Discretion Age Group 2: Should train and compete with high standard technique and skill level Should be self-motivated Qualify for county level competition in multiple events Aim for regional competition Attend 5-6 sessions per week 7 th Session at Coach’s Discretion The above criteria is subject to coach’s discretion and exceptions may apply

12 SWIMMER COACH PARENT Motivation : Must be Swimmer led to be successful. Parent /Coach to only encourage Decisions : Swimmer to progress towards making all decisions ASAP Commitment : Swimmer must show willingness to commit, ahead of Coach and Parent Pressure : Should come from the Swimmer – Direct/Indirect pressure

13 Beneficial Swimmer selecting events to swim at meet with Coach Parent not always staying to watch at competitions Parent asking Swimmer what to expect from the competition instead of suggesting/telling Parent encouraging Swimmer to work with coach Detrimental Swimmer and Parent discussing swimming on car journeys Parent setting alarm for morning training to wake Swimmer up Swimmer seeking / receiving advice at competition from Parents before speaking to coach Withdrawing from events at meet without valid reason
