2 National Updates Local Area SEND Inspections National Schools Funding Formula Statistical First Release SEN Data

3 Local Area SEND Inspections Inspection Framework and Inspectors Handbook published 27 April 2015 Inspections have already taken place in Bolton, Brighton & Hove and Gloucestershire Rochdale Area has established a Preparing for Inspection Board Briefing sessions taking place across all agencies and partners

4 National Funding Formula The government has started the process of introducing a national funding formula from 2017 to 2018. The changes will be phased in to ensure a smooth transition and the local authority’s role in school funding will remain until 2019 to 2020. Local authorities will receive funding to help with their responsibilities towards young people with high-level special educational needs on a fair and formulaic basis, so that no pupil is disadvantaged simply by where they live. A single national funding formula for schools will ensure pupils with similar needs attract the same level of funding to their school, and will also give headteachers far more certainty over future budgets.
