“Writing is thinking on paper.” ~William Zinser 23 Jan. 2012

Bellwork1/23/12  What questions do you have about your final portfolio turn in?

This week’s assignments  Tuesday: Your typed evaluations of 3 audio presentations are due by the end of the day  We’ll be in the 200 T lab  Also the last day to turn in any late work with a pass!  The day of your final (Wed. 6 th, Thurs. 5 th, Fri. 4 th ) : We’ll be in the 200 lab for study hall time AND the time for your final. Bring other materials for working and studying if you get done early (no early release!)  Make sure you have all components on the checklist completed before you turn your portfolio in!

What will go in your portfolio folder  Your purple portfolio evaluation sheet  Complete as much in advance as possible  Post-It notes to indicate anything that has changed from your last submission  Your author’s statement  not answered simply in a list-more like a short essay  DETAILED and SPECIFIC responses required using SPECIFIC wording from the FINAL PORTFOLIO RUBRIC Mess this part up, and your portfolio is unlikely to receive anything higher than a B  Your table of contents (see example)  Your three portfolio pieces stapled in individual packets  All with DETAILED and SPECIFIC reflection pieces using SPECIFIC wording from the DPA RUBRIC  All including past drafts demonstrating your growth and improvements between them

For the rest of the class  Find a partner and trade your drafts for Portfolio Piece #3  Tell your reader what your goal is for this piece  Ask them to write all over your draft giving you tips for improvement, particularly in regards to your goal  Discuss what you’re going to do to improve this piece  If you’re doing a “non-traditional” wildcard, check in with me TODAY to learn about any extra work that would be expected to make it acceptable
