6 CLASS MATERIALS REQUIRED MATERIALS: 1. Composition book (college ruled) 2. 3-ring-binder (1 ½ “) for class handouts and notes 3. lined paper 4. Pen/Pencil NOTE: A class set of Spanish 2 textbooks will be used during class. However, any student who wishes to have a digital copy of the textbook can bring his/her flash drive and I will download a copy onto it to have and to use as a reference at home. SUGGESTED MATERIALS: 1.Spanish – English dictionary (McKay Used Book Store in Manassas has used dictionaries for $2-$3)

7 STUDENT EVALUATION GRADING BREAKDOWN: Reading Assessments: 20% Quizzes: 15% Writing Assessments: 20% Homework/Classwork: 5% Speaking Assessments: 20% Listening Assessments: 20% NOTE ON TESTS: All Chapter tests will have a performance based reading, writing, speaking, and listening component. Individual grades will be given for each section on the chapter test and entered into the respective assessment category listed above. Readings, writing, speaking and listening chapter test assessments will be weighted more than a reading, writing, speaking and listening assessment that is considered classwork.

8 Learning another language and being able to communicate in it requires…  Students to practice and to use the new language in the classroom and at home  Class time will be dedicated to the students using the language in small groups, pairs and with their teacher  In order to communicate in the language during class, it is imperative that students study and memorize their vocabulary and grammar rules at home  “The end” is for students to be able to communicate in another language, not to say/write words or conjugate verbs in isolation

Have your child read aloud to you in the new language Encourage them to teach you and family members their new language on a daily/weekly basis Encourage them to use phrases, new language with multi-lingual peers & neighbors Check the School Fusion page for specific enrichment resources and assignments posted by teacher Quiz your child using their notes

Students are asked to inform me when they intend to stay so that I can confirm to them I will be present.
