Why Chepstow School? A-Level/BTEC Results 2016 36% of grades were at A*- A 51% were at A*-B 99% A to E 100% Level 3 indicator 61% of BTEC qualifications were at grades D or D* No pupils at all in Clearing – unheard of!

Available Pathways A-level requirements: BTEC requirements: Subject specific requirements: *English and Maths to be re-sat if below C grade A-level requirements: 5 A*-C grades from Full Course GCSEs in order to study the required 4 AS Levels in Year 12 BTEC requirements: 4 A*-C grades from Full Course GCSEs or BTECs at Merit or above Subject specific requirements: Please see prospectus and separate ‘requirements’ sheet (also on school website) *English and Maths to be re-sat if below C grade

Entry Requirements 2016 5 or more A* - C GCSE grades for AS subjects Entry Requirements 2016 5 or more A* - C GCSE grades for AS subjects AS/A Level Biology: Science and Additional Science grade A or Triple Award a minimum of B grade in Biology and Chemistry at GCSE. Chemistry: Grade A in Additional Science and Science / B grade in Triple Award. Physics: Grade A in Additional Science / B in Physics in Triple Award. Maths: A*-A in GCSE Maths (B at discretion of teacher). English: Grade A*-B GCSE in Literature and Language. Art: A*-B grade at GCSE (some good C grades will be considered). A*-C grade in GCSE English. Graphics: A*-B grade in GCSE Art or Graphics (some good C grades will be considered). A*-C grade in GCSE English. DT - Product Design: A*-C grade in DT GCSE (RMT, Graphics, Textiles). At least Merits in BTEC Engineering (Extended Certificate). Food Technology: A*-C grade in Food GCSE. Drama: A*-C grade at GCSE. Media and Film Studies: Preferably a C in GCSE English. Music: Reached high standards in performance of one or more instruments / grade 5 or above / A*-B at GCSE. Music BTEC: Good standard in performance. ICT: A*-C grade at GCSE. ICT Computing: A*-C grade at GCSE. PE: Grade A*-C grade in GCSE PE. History: A*-B grade at GCSE (C students at discretion of teacher). Geography: A*-C grade at GCSE. Religious Studies: A*-C grade at GCSE. Business Studies: n/a (no requirement for GCSE Business Studies) Economics: A*-C grade at English and Maths GCSE desirable. Politics: A*-C grade in English. Law: A*-C grade in English. Psychology: Grade A*-C in Maths, preferably A-C in English. Sociology: A*-C grade in GCSE English. French: A*-B grade at GCSE preferably. Spanish: B grade in a language GCSE. What else is required? A very good attendance record An excellent behaviour record Keen organisational skills A strong personal statement (see application form) Self motivation A willingness to participate in the school and the local community Ability to take responsibility for own learning A support network!

It’s tough at the top Some Law degrees require an A-level in English Science and Engineering degrees often require a B in English at GCSE Many universities require a C in English and Maths Subjects at A-level can affect future career paths Birmingham Uni won’t consider you for Medicine unless you have A* in 2 Sciences, Maths and 1 English at GCSE
