1 Evaluation – part I Presentation made in the Primary school no. 2 in Zawoja Wilczna. The project is realized with the financial support of the European Union. The content of the project itself and all the materials included do not reflect the stand of the EU Comission and National Agency. Thus, neither of the above is responsible for its content.

2 Comenius European Cultural and Historical Heritage Project All the partner schools conducted entry questionnaires among the students engaged in the project. The main aims were: 1. To learn about the students’ initial knowledge of the EU and partner countries. 2. To check if the students were familiar with the topic, aims and tasks connected with the project. Students’ expectations, interests and fears were taken into consideration. Parents’ attitudestowards the project have also been examined.

What is the colour of the EU passport? 4. How many stars are there on the EU flag? 5. Who was the composer of the official European anthem?

7 Partnership Countries 1.The students answered some questions concerning the history and culture of their countries Great Britain: 79, 6% correct answers Turkey: 99% correct answers Romania: 50% correct answers Poland: 92,8% correct answers Belgium: 70% correct answers

8 National – Cultural and Historical Heritage 1.The students could name some of the sport disciplines but not all of them could describe them. 2.There were no problems with giving the names of the national heroes. 3.All the students know the traditional dances 4.Vast majority of the students wanted to learn more about their countries’ and European historical and European heritage.

9 Partnership Countries The participants of the project showed little knowledge of the remaining countries. Great Britain: 26,8% correct answers Turkey: 36,8% correct answers Romania: 45,5% correct answers Poland: 30% correct answers Belgium: 30% correct answers

20 Tasks done in the project Poland (herbal, multimedia presentations, film script, photo album, poems about Zawoja, letters and e-mails in English) Great Britain – powerpoint presentation about Birmingham, Internet research, they wrote about Belgium, two people went to Belgium and one from another class, and we researched about Belgium Turkey: no information about the actions

22 Students’ anxiety Poland (most of them don’t have any fears, 2 people are afraid of not being qualified to the project trips, 2 other people feel unsure about speaking English, 2 people are afraid of getting lost) England ( some of the students admitted: I’m worried about the powerpoint, other said: I’m worried that the other children may not be nice)

23 Conclusions Make students more engaged in the project Inform the students about the topic of the project Students find the project attractive Many students don’t know the parents’ opinions- there should be a questionnaire for parents Good language skills, however, most of the people understand a lot but have problems with speaking Participants believe that the project has helped them overcome language poblems. The teachers should describe their impressions Students feel the need to contact their peers from the other countries, via e-mail, social networking sites etc. Some of the schools have completed many tasks connected with the project Most of the students do not have many fears connected with the project, they seem enthusiastic
