5 Proper Tie Down for Large Metal Reels  All loaded metal reels must be rigged with 8T/80 -3/8” Transport Chain DO NOT use Galvanized Welded or Plain Welded Chain. It is not TXDOT/Fed DOT Approved for Transport.  Only use Come-A-Longs that are in good working order Hook latches are on and working properly Handles not bent or miss shaped  Only secure chain(s) and Come-A-Longs to the manufactures attachment points on the trailer. DO NOT attach to trailer fenders, underneath the trailer, tongue of the trailer  DO NOT accept broken, damaged reels from the yard. If its damaged or broken once its loaded it becomes the transporters responsibility for any accident, incident that may occur during transport.  All excess rigging must be secured to keep it from falling off the trailer and being entangled on the tires, axels or being drug down the road causing a traffic hazard.  NOTE: Nylon straps may be used on small reels and empty large reels, but softeners such as cardboard, carpet or other softing device must be placed between the strap(s) and the material being secured to prevent cutting the strap(s)
