PRESENTATION BY K.B KIRAN HAM RADIO SECURITY

WHAT IS A HAM RADIO? Device that is designed to use Radio frequency spectrum for purposes of private recreation, non-commercial exchange of messages, wireless experimentation, self-training, and emergency communication. Public safety (such as police and fire), or professional two-way radio services (such as maritime, aviation, taxis, etc.).

HOW HAM RADIO WORKS? It works same as how a radio works on electromagnetic waves. It uses the range of EM waves from 30MHZ to 1GHZ. It works in all the four different types of radio spectrum HF(high-frequency)-10 ham, military etc.. VHF(very high frequency)-3 ham band,FM.. UHF(ultra high frequency)-TV,2 ham etc.. MICROWAVE-satellite tv,WiFi,gps,8 ham..

Frequency bands…………….

A SMALL INFO ABOUT HAM.. Amateur radio operation is harmonized by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and licensed by the individual national governments. Amateurs use a variety of voice, text, image, and data communications modes and have access to frequency allocations throughout the RF spectrum to enable communication across a city, region, country, continent, the world, or even into space. According to an estimate made in 2011, two million people throughout the world are regularly involved with amateur radio.

LISTENING IS UNRESTRICTED As side from some silly restrictions in analog cellphone you can listen to what ever you like all day long.

Hammering the HAM rules…..! In most administrations, unlike other RF spectrum users, radio amateurs may build or modify transmitting equipment for their own use within the amateur spectrum without the need to obtain government certification of the equipment. Licensed amateurs can also use any frequency in their bands (rather than being allocated fixed frequencies or channels) and can operate medium to high-powered equipment on a wide range of frequencies. so long as they meet certain technical parameters including occupied bandwidth, power, and maintenance of spurious(FALSE OR FAKE) emission Some war dialing techniques can be used to get your hands on some frequencies.

WARDAILING ? War dailing is a wireless networking term that refers to the event when a person in a moving with a Wi-Fi equipped computer like a laptop or a personal digital assistant (PDA) roams around a given location to search for Wi-Fi wireless networks.

WARDIALING IN HAM….. The use of a radio scanner, which is when HAM radio operators tune in and identify distant radio signals or make two-way radio contact with distant stations.

ADVANTAGES just like the military and commercial services, hams use satellites. Some amateur satellites act as “repeaters in the sky” COMPUTER’S they also act as part of the radio, generating and decoding digital data signals, sending Morse code, and controlling the radio’s functions. Hams also have constructed radio-linked computer networks and a worldwide system of e-mail servers accessed by radio.

DEMERITS Radio SIGNALS sometimes seem to overlap or blend together. Radio signals are also susceptible to interference from atmospheric conditions and other broadcasts.
