3 Who is a Global Engagement Scholar? Domestic and international students who are interested in becoming globally minded citizens. Undergraduates of all majors with a 3.0 GPA or above. Students interested in pursuing global coursework and co-curricular activities, including study or co-op abroad, foreign language study, and globally oriented campus organizations and events. Students who want to connect their diverse cultural and international experiences and receive recognition for their global activities at Drexel.

5 1. Orientation All students interested in the GES program must first attend an orientation. Welcome! Before leaving orientation, students who would like to enroll in the program may sign up by filling out the GES application. Students will be registered for the GES course (GES201) during every quarter in which they are in the program, as well as the online community classroom, where they will submit their reflections in Blackboard Learn. GES201 is a zero credit course, and has no effect on the student’s GPA or credit hours.

Coursework & Language Study Students are required to complete at least 4 globally-oriented courses (min. grade B) At least one, but no more than three, must be foreign language courses In order to complete this requirement, students will: Respond to the coursework & language study prompt in the community classroom articulating the connections between their chosen global courses Submit an unofficial transcript after all 4 courses have been taken

7 3. International & Cross- Cultural Experiences Students are required to complete at least 1 international experience and 1 cross-cultural experience, OR 3 cross-cultural experiences Ex. of international experience: study abroad, co-op abroad, international volunteer service, international research Ex. of cross-cultural experience: domestic co-op or volunteer service at an international organization, active participation in an international or multicultural organization or program In order to complete this requirement, students will: Respond to the international & cross-cultural experience prompt for each experience in the community classroom

9 4. Events, Programs, and Activities Students are required to complete at least 6 on or off campus globally-themed activities and events Events that you personally organize count as 2 events Examples include: lectures, conferences, workshops, diversity trainings, applying for an international fellowship In order to complete this requirement, students will: Respond to the events, programs, and activities prompt for each event in the community classroom

11 5. Participation in Online Community Classroom Students are required to participate in the Online Community Classroom at least once per quarter Examples include: starting or contributing to a discussion post, submitting a response to a prompt, posting a resource

12 6. Portfolio Students will be enrolled in GES 401: Portfolio, a zero credit class, following successful completion of all activity requirements and approval from their GES mentor.

13 Upon Completion Upon successful completion and presentation of the GES Portfolio, students will: Receive a Global Engagement Scholar designation on their Drexel transcript Have an opportunity to present their Portfolio to future global scholars at an upcoming GES orientation Gain a competitive edge in your professional and academic goals
