3 What is a “Fever Project”?

4 Fever hits your school! Your school is in great danger !! The government has declared that your school is to be quarantined. The Principal has just announced that you’ll be stuck at school for at least 4 weeks. After that the danger should be over. You CANNOT leave the school for any reason. No one can enter the school. You’ll be making a record of things that happen to you while your school is under siege through a number of different tasks.

5 Task 2 -Report on the Outbreak of the Disease

6 Task 2 – Report  Write a report on the outbreak of the disease and include the following A) Where it originated from B) Where it was first discovered C) What the disease is called D) What the symptoms are like (what happens to someone who catches the disease) you can draw a picture E) Whether there is a cure.

7 Writing a Report  Give it a title  Introduce the aim of the report  Present your facts and findings  Finish with your own opinion of the situation  Include your signature and date the report was written.

8 Your school has now hit the headlines! After a week of keeping it quiet, someone leaked the story! There is local pandemonium because of it. The local paper is full of it. The national papers are carrying the story too. TV cameras and reporters gather outside the school waiting for news. The whole area is covered with posters warning people away.

9 Your task is to: Create two posters for putting up outside the school 1. One that will keep people away without scaring them too much. 2. One that will inform people of how to spot the disease and where to go for medical attention if they have it.

10 Today  Must Finish:  School Profile  Report on the Outbreak  You have to finish your posters by Friday. (Create two posters for putting up outside the school  1. 11 Next Task: Letter Home You have had no contact with friends or family on the outside since you have been quarantined. The Head has decided that you are allowed to write one letter home or to a friend.

12 Criteria for your letter  You must use the layout of a letter. What way must you write it?  You must tell them how you are getting on in the school, and how you are feeling about being in there.  You must ask them to send you some items that you think would help pass the time or that you think you need (Everything you ask for must fit into a regular plastic bag)  Remember: This is the only letter you are allowed send! What is important to say?

15 A news reporter on the outside has managed to get a message into the school. They have asked you to provide them with more information on the outbreak by putting together your own news report or interviewing your Head Teacher.

16  Your task is to either: A) Create a news report that you will present to the class on the outbreak. OR B) Conduct an interview with the Head Teacher about the situation that you will present to the class. 1.Who, what, where, when, why, how…… 2.Come up with a script: News reporter, anchor, 1.Come up with a script 2.What questions would you ask? 3.What answers would the head give?

17 Roles  Everyone in your group must have a speaking role. Think about which task you would like to do, and come up with a list of roles that you would need to fill e.g news anchor, reporter on the ground, school principal etc.

18 Criteria  Express ideas and information clearly.  Make sure your presentation is organised and is interesting for the audience.  Remember the purpose of your presentation!  Make it as funny/serious as you like

19 News Report/Interview A. News Report B. Interview with the Principal  As with any good story you must plan first! What has happened in the school?  Who  What  Where  When  Why  How  Before you conduct an interview you must decide on the questions that you need to ask!

21 Today  You have been stuck inside the school for the past 3 weeks. People are now becoming bored of their surroundings and really want to leave, but it is still not safe to do so.  Your principal has come to you and your classmates and has asked you to come up with an idea for a new game, to keep your classmates entertained.

22 Ask yourself questions like: How many players will there be? How long should the game be? What choices will the player make, and when will they make them? How does the game progress? Is it strictly turn-based, or is it in rounds with phases? What actions will the player be able to take? What is the player's goal? How can the player win? In your groups someone must be responsible for: 1)Responsible for board, steps, numbering 2)Cards-questions, answers 3)Rules/instructions 4)Making dice/counters

24 You feel like you are going crazy cooped up in school with nothing much to do. You decide to take a walk and take the opportunity to be nosey in the “Teachers Only” section of D-Block. You come upon a door and hear two people shouting behind it. Write the script of what you overhear behind the door.
