(= 2 separately received „general“ comments) -Official interpretation of meaning by John Buflod -Historically this was a compromise for giving the industry a chance to use the composite well cement Annex for a certain period of time, before including it as a specification to the main document (still the final goal).

Plack Comments on Annex B - Technical :" … of at least 90%, the remainder being minerals that naturally occur in conjunction with silicon dioxide." At the manufacturer’s discretion, Free-fluid and other performance characteristics at the manufacturer’s design water ratio may be adjusted by using..." Under 1 st paragraph: Such materials are permitted, provided that such additives do not prevent the composite well cement from performing its intended functions. It may be appropriate to give manufacturers of Class L the possibility to optimize the overall performance characteristicts of Class L Rick and Heiko to put the whole paragraph in more simple sentences. Plack New Wording of Clause B.2.1.3 – Class L B.2.1.3Class L Class L composite well cement is obtained by intergrinding Portland cement clinker and one or more forms of calcium sulfate with fly ash as specified in B.2.2.3, or with other pozzolanic material as specified in B.2.2.2, or by blending separately produced Portland cement with separately processed fly ash as specified in B.2.2.3, or with other pozzolanic material as specified in B.2.2.2. At the manufacturer’s discretion, other materials may be used for modifying performance characteristics, provided such additives do not prevent the composite well cement from performing its intended functions. This product is intended for use under conditions when a lower density cement slurry is desired.

Plack Composite Well Cements – Further Steps / Motions Motion #1: To accept the changes derived from the comments as discussed today and issue/publish Annex B as an Amendmend to API Spec 10A. Motion #2: To hand over the content of Annex B as finally approved today to the WG „Changes for Rewrite of API Spec 10A and RP 10B-2“ (RLukay)”.
