Learning Objectives Understand the concept of floor. Create floors using the Floor tool. Create roofs using the Roof tool. Use the shape editing tools for floor, roof, and slabs. Create ceilings using the Ceiling tool. Create openings in the floor, roof, and ceiling. Create rooms using the Room tool. Join walls with the other walls and roofs.

 CREATING FLOORS Ribbon: Home > Build > Floor drop-down > Floor Figure 1 Partial view of the Modify | Create Floor Boundary tab

 SHAPE EDITING TOOLS FOR STRUCTURAL FLOORS, FLOORS, AND ROOFS Modify Sub Elements Figure 23 The shape editing tools displayed in the Shape Editing panel Figure 24 The boundary line and the corner grips displayed after selecting the floor

Figure 25 Drag control symbol displayed after selecting the left corner point Figure 26 Modified floor after dragging the left corner point vertically up

Add Points A spot elevation by adding single or multiple points on the surface Used to modify the geometry of the selected slab, floor or roof Figure 27 Adding a point on the surface and then dragging the point

Draw Split Lines Split or divide the slab, floor, or roof surface into different sub regions Act as edges and split the surface into different regions Figure 28 The floor after adding three split lines and dragging them to different elevations Pick Supports Reset Shape

 CREATING CEILINGS Creating an Automatic Ceiling Ribbon: Home > Build > Ceiling Figure 29 Selecting the room to create an automatic ceiling Figure 30 Automatic ceiling created

 Tutorial 1 In this tutorial, you will add a floor and ceiling to the c06_Apartment1_tut1.rvt project created in Tutorial 1 of Chapter 6. The following steps are required to complete this tutorial: 1.Open the c06_Apartment1_tut1.rvt file created in Chapter 6. 2.Hide the annotation tags such as the section line, grids, and the elevation tag. 3.Create the floor using the Floor tool, refer to Figures 49 through 51.
