4. Storyboard and structure A storyboard is a map of what your story or documentary will have in it. Part II: Some interesting, factual information about your story. Part III: A wrap up of what you have covered in your film, or a summary of what might happen in the future.

5. Your Storyboard Part I INTRODUCE YOUR STORY How will you convince your audience that what you have to say is interesting and important, so they want to learn more? Think about: Why is your local biodiversity important or unique? What species have you seen around your home or school? Are they native to Australia, or introduced from other countries? Are there connections between the animals and landscapes in your local area? Use the first frames of your storyboard to draw some pictures or write down your ideas in words.

6. Your storyboard Part II TELL YOUR STORY What facts and details will help your audience understand why your story is important? Think about: Where will you find reliable, accurate and up-to-date information? How many species can you identify? What are some key facts about your species? Could you do any safe and simple experiments to support your story? Use the middle frames of your storyboard to draw some pictures or write down your ideas in words.

7. Your storyboard Part III SUMMARISE and INSPIRE ACTION! What do you want your audience to take away from your film? Think about: What are the most important points that you want your audience to remember? Do you want to share your ideas about everyday actions that will have a positive impact on your local biodiversity? Use the last frames of your storyboard to draw some pictures or write down your ideas in words.

8. There are laws in place to protect Queensland's native wildlife. Community groups and individuals can take actions to help with conservation efforts All native birds, reptiles, mammals and amphibians are protected, along with some invertebrates. This means you cannot pick up or touch these animals without a permit!!! Protecting our native wildlife!

9. Reference material- how to identify species? Guides to all animals in a particular area e.g. Wild Guide to Moreton Bay QLD Field guides to a group of animals, e.g. butterflies Online resources like the QM app for Qld fauna We can use field guides or other books, scientific papers and online resources

10. Australian faunal directory This website is useful if we know the name of a species, and we want to look up some information about it Online reference material Department of Agriculture website This website is useful if we want to know more about invasive species

11. Documentary making resources Visit your app store or look at programs available on your computer or phone to help you make your movie. You could: Make time-lapse videos Try stop-motion animation or illustration Edit or combine photographs and videos Add narration and subtitles Save your film in a format that can be played on any computer (the end of the file name should be.mov,.mp4 or.wmv and NOT.wlmp).

12. Your documentary should be: two minutes or less about the biodiversity in your local area about something you think is important or interesting clear and well-structured entirely your own work entertaining and educational based on accurate information What are the judges looking for?
