3 THE FOLLOWING IS TO BE USED TO INSTRUCT TEST ADMINISTRATORS IN COMPLETING THE FOLLOWING CBT RELATED TASKS:  Logging in to the Test Administration system  Creating a session and providing a Session ID to students  Looking up and approving students for testing  Assisting students with logging in  Monitoring students  Ending the test session(s) Computer Based Test Interface 3

5 TO ADMINISTER AN ONLINE TEST, YOU WILL NEED TO:  Make sure the latest version of the FSA secure browser is installed on student workstations.  Make sure you have a username and login for the interface.  Review that the students in your testing room are enrolled (have tickets) for the test to be administered using TIDE.  Set up a Test Session and provide the Session ID to students.  When students log in, ensure they have a Test Ticket and enter their Username and First Name as they appear on the test ticket. 6 Accessing the Test Administrator Interface 6  The Test Administrator Interface (TA Interface) is accessed from the user pages on the FSA Portal. Go to the portal at www.FSAssessments.org/ www.FSAssessments.org/ Select the Test Administration card Click the Test Administration, TA Training Site or Practice Test icon Sign in using your Username and Password

8 Starting a Test  You must start a test session before students can log in to test. CLICK THE TEST FOR THE SUBJECT AREA YOU ARE ASSESSING. CLICK START SESSION  The Session ID is generated automatically. PROVIDE THE SESSION ID TO STUDENTS 8

9 Approving Students  Before students log in: APPROVALS BUTTON IS NOT CLICKABLE AND SAYS “APPROVALS (0).”  After students log in and request approval: APPROVALS BUTTON IS CLICKABLE AND SAYS “APPROVALS (#).” 9

10 Approving Students to Test 10  After clicking the Approvals button, the following screen appears: Click See Details Icon (eye) to view student test settings. Click Approve (green checkmark) to allow individual students to begin testing. Click Deny (red x) to reject a student’s request to take a test.  Use the Approve All Students button to approve all students listed.  The Refresh button updates the list of students awaiting approval.

11 Student Lookup Feature 11  Click Student Lookup.  Use the Quick Search or Advanced Search tabs.

12 Student Login 12  After opening the secure browser, students will use the information from their Test Ticket to login.  Students will be shown a screen to confirm their demographic information.  Students will be asked to select a test. The first time the student signs in, the green arrow will be solid. When a student is resumed or signs in for Session 2, the green arrow will be segmented.  A test confirmation page will appear, and students will then await approval from the TA to enter the test.

13 Monitoring Student Progress  After students have logged in and the Test Administrator has approved them to begin testing, the test session table at the bottom of the screen will display each student currently logged in to the session. 13

14 Ending a Test Session 14 Next button has been removed from the review screen. Students will click the End Session button to log out after finishing Session 1. Students taking two sessions on Day 2 will request approval to enter the next session after clicking the End Session button. For a 2 session test, Test Administrators will not have the option to have students move to the next session until Day 2 of testing.

15 Timing Out  As a security measure, Test Administrators are automatically logged out after 90 minutes of user inactivity and student inactivity in a test session. This will result in closure of the test session. Note: IF A TEST ADMINISTRATOR IS LOGGED OUT DUE TO INACTIVITY THE TEST ADMINISTRATOR HAS TO CREATE A NEW TEST SESSION AND PROVIDE ANOTHER SESSION ID TO ALLOW STUDENTS TO LOG BACK INTO THE TEST. THE TEST ADMINISTRATOR SHOULD SET UP THE SESSION NO EARLIER THAN 90 MINUTES BEFORE STUDENTS BEGIN TO TEST. TEST ADMINISTRATORS WILL NOT BE LOGGED OUT AS LONG AS STUDENTS ARE ACTIVELY TESTING. 15

16 After Testing  After testing is completed follow the instructions for Test Administrator Responsibilities in the corresponding FSA or EOC manual.  Return all required administration information/materials to your school’s assessment coordinator.  Complete any other activities related to testing as instructed in the manual or your school’s assessment coordinator. 16
