We will learn: To investigate and interpret the past To build an overview of world history To understand chronology To communicate historically Scientific and technological understanding This half term’s science theme is electricity. Throughout the theme we will: Look at appliances, circuits, lamps, switches, insulators and conductors. Look at circuits, the effect of the voltage in cells and the resistance and conductivity of materials Using Mathematics Assertive Mentoring for Maths- weekly test followed by targeted learning and a half termly test. Maths Missions- cross curricular Mathematics learning Place value (including decimals) Mental calculation 2D and 3D shape (including perimeter, angles) Statistics Written calculation Time Word Problems Understanding the arts In our art and design work this half term we will Use experiences, other subjects across the curriculum and ideas as inspiration for artwork; in particular our history work on traders and invaders. Develop and share ideas in a sketchbook and in finished products. Improve mastery of techniques. Learn about the great artists, architects and designers in history; with a focus on the Anglo Saxon and Viking crosses in our locality. Using ICT Design and write programs that accomplish specific goals, including controlling or simulating physical systems; solve problems by decomposing them into smaller parts. Use sequence, selections and repetition in programs; work with variables and various forms of input and output; generate appropriate inputs and predicted outputs to test programs. Use logical reasoning to explain how a simple algorithm works, detect and correct errors in algorithms and programs. Understanding physical development, health and well-being Swimming Lessons at West Lakes Academy on Wednesday afternoons PE Games sessions with sports coach Glenn from Onside Sports on Monday afternoons.
