Imaginative writing encourages children to do what they do well anyway: to invent and retell fantasy stories. 3. Imaginative writing enables children to explore conflict and sorrow within a story, possibly gaining personal hope and the ability to believe things will improve (as with other genres). 4. Imaginative writing is a useful way in which to explore solutions to cultural, social, or philosophical issues like good versus evil. (Tunnell & Jacobs, 2000)
