Social Services Professional Currently, I am employed as a family and student support specialist in my home town, of Grand Rapids, MI. I have worked with at-risk youth for the majority of my life (17 years). My interest include: traveling, reading, listening to music, watching movies, and giving back to my community. I currently have a girl’s group that I have developed, working with at-risk girls.

The Early Years… I attended all public schools in my childhood. I have always had a desire to work with people and give back to my community. I am a product of the school system of which I am currently employed. My junior high school teacher taught me the appreciation of literary works and poetry. Until this day, I have collected tons of works and collections. I learned at an early age to be humble, appreciate everything, and no one owes you anything.

My Goals… It is my desire to have a position that would speak volumes to our youth as an after school & summer school programmer and high school principal. In addition to running this non-profit program, I would like to teach at the college level, and own a fashion boutique for women. I would hope to give to them what was given to me…the desire to better myself through a quality education and self love. I currently hold a B.A. in Criminal Justice with a minor in social work from Western Michigan University. I am enrolled in the MAED program with a specialization in Family and Community Services. Once this is completed, I will begin working on my PH.D. in Education and Transformational Leadership.

My Future Role(s) Become a leader in my community and public school system Develop the education and skills to help students acquire and maintain the desire to learn Be financially able to provide for my family and those that are in need (even more than I am able to do now)

Action Research vs. Traditional Research From my understanding, action research is focusing on data, the individuals involved, focusing on a problem, & working on a resolution.
