2 Objectives of the Session Students are expected to: -skim texts for specific information. -get the meaning of new words. -answer comprehension questions.

3 New Words The wordm.Example Sentence photo صورة This is a nice photo. document وثيقة I have an Egyptian travel document. booth كشك / حجرة I took this photo in a photo booth. nationality جنسية I have a Palestinian nationality. deliberately بشكل متعمد I deliberately lost my passport and got a new one. proud فخور I used to be very proud of my parents. embarrassed خجول Ali was embarrassed about his passport photo because he doesn’t like showing it to other people. celebrities مشاهير British media celebrities were asked about their passport photos.

4 Reading: Judging by appearance, p.40? Pre-reading questions: 1- How many documents do you have which have your photo on them? 2- Where was your passport or ID card photo taken? a- in a photo booth b- at home c-at a photo studio. C-Read the 1st paragraph and answer the questions: 1- Why is our passport photo important? 2- Which nationality are the least happy with their photo? 3- Which are the happiest? 4- Which nationality are the vainest? D- Now read the rest of the article and say who is happy with their photo? Who isn’t? Why?

E: After reading: Choose the correct meaning: 1- a research = a study / a book 2- embarrassed= feeling uncomfortable/ feeling happy 3- celebrities= journalists/ famous people 4- proud = feeling happy with yourself / feeling unhappy with yourself 5- hideous = very beautiful/ very ugly 6- bald= without hair/ with a lot of hair 7- wig= a kind of document/ a false hair
