2 Hello! My name is Dasha. On the 25th of December there is the greatest holiday in all English speaking countries – the Christmas. I’d like to tell you how people celebrate it. Santa will help us.

4 Great Britain English families decorate their houses with a Christmas tree, buy presents for the family and friends. Children hang Christmas stockings. They believe that Santa comes down the chimney and fills the stockings with presents. It is a tradition to sing Christmas carols in public places during this season. Carols are Christmas songs.

5 United States of America
The United States of America has many different traditions and ways that people in celebrate Christmas, because of its multi-cultural nature. There are shops called 'Christmas Shops' that only sell Christmas decorations and toys all the year round! People in America like to decorate the outsides of their houses with lights and sometimes even statues of Santa Claus, Snowmen and Reindeer. In Hawaii Santa is called Kanakaloka!

6 Canada Canada is a very large country and people of many different cultural backgrounds live there. Because of this, there are lots of different Christmas traditions in Canada. In the weeks leading up to Christmas in Canada people spend time shopping for Christmas gifts. Most families in Canada have a fir or pine Christmas Tree. Many Canadian families have cookie-baking parties.

7 Australia Christmas takes place on December 25th, the summertime in Australia. People often spend part of Christmas day with their families at the beach. Children believe that Santa Claus leaves presents for them under the Christmas tree on Christmas eve. One popular Australian song states that six white boomers, or large kangaroos, pull Santa's sleigh.

8 New Zealand In New Zealand Christmas comes in the middle of the summer holidays. Many towns have a Santa parade with decorated floats, bands and marching girls. The New Christmas Tree is called Pohutukawa. Christmas is he time for holidays, picnics, barbecues and beaches.
