SEARAILS 85LT MARINE TERMINAL CONTAINER CRANE Packing container as shipped The SEARAILS 85LT Marine Terminal Container Crane HO scale model (1:87.5) is packaged as securely as possible. The packing container, as shipped, weighs 129 pounds. all contact surfaces are protected by sheets of ¼” polypropylene foam. The model is tightly secured horizontally by soft foam inserts on all four sides. It is fixed in the vertical by a wooden plank, placed through and above its “legs”. This “hold-down” plank is bolted to the floor of the container. The bolts are secured to “T-nuts” underneath the floor. This “sandwich” effect keeps the crane model from moving vertically within the container. Additionally, the model’ legs are contained between a set of wood “cleats” screwed and hot-glued to the inside floor. Finally, the scissors stairway on the starboard forward leg is surrounded by cut pieces of tubular foam. All accessories in the included cardboard box are encased in plastic bags and foam protective packing pieces. Please read all instructions Before starting the assembly of the crane

SEARAILS 85LT MARINE TERMINAL CONTAINER CRANE 3. VISUALLY INSPECT FOR DAMAGE WITHOUT REMOVING CRANE. a. EXAMINE BRASS RAILINGS, ladders, and stairways ON AFT MECHANICAL DECK and aft tower TO INSURE THEY ARE IN PLACE AND HAVE REMAINED ATTACHED. b. EXAMINE AND INSURE THE TOWER SUPPORTS ARE FIXED IN PLACE. c. EXAMINE REEVED CABLES TO INSURE THEY ARE IN PLACE AND ATTACHED CORRECTLY. d. EXAMINE FORE AND AFT TOWERS FOR DAMAGE. 3d 3b 3c 3a

SEARAILS 85LT MARINE TERMINAL CONTAINER CRANE WITH THE PIVOT PIN AND CABLES IN PLACE, REMOVE THE SUPPORT BOX AND STAIRWAY “BUMPERS”. THE CRANE MODEL STANDS READY TO RECEIVE OTHER ACCESSSORIES. The order of addition is not significant. The following is one method; 1.Machine shop 2.Industrial crane 3.Control cab and lifter 4.Removal of stairway foam bumpers 5.Rail wheel sets 6.Positioning of crane on layout

SEARAILS 85LT MARINE TERMINAL CONTAINER CRANE Inserting the utility crane The utility crane is used on the prototype to lift additional or replacement parts for the power cable pickup or machine shop. There are two locations available; the aft end on the power cable pickup or forward of the main winch between the prime generators. The complete area is surrounded by etched brass railing. Both positions are prototypical, but the extreme aft end is recommended since it will not interfere with the main tower cables when rotating.

SEARAILS 85LT MARINE TERMINAL CONTAINER CRANE Remove the stairway foam “bumpers” and position the crane model at the desired location on the display. Place the crane towers over the rail tracks, and insure the Maersk logo will reach the far side of the ship’s deck. When moving or transporting the crane within the display area be aware that without gluing the wheelsets to the crane model legs, they will most certainly drop off. Also, the control cab and lifter should be removed before any major movement. All inquiries should be directed to; Searails Box 366 Valley ford, ca 94972 www.searails.com 1-800-929-3361
