2. Seat Belts  Everyone in a car is required to wear a seat belt.  Drivers are responsible for making sure all passengers 17 and under are belted in.  Penalties A driver can be fined up to $25 per violation, and up to $50 per traffic stop.

3. Child Car Seat Laws  All children under six need to be in a car seat.  Conditions: Children under the age of one or weighing less than 20 lbs must be in a rear-facing seat.

9. Texting and Driving  This is a bill, approved in February.  Banned texting while driving.  Also bans cell phone use while driving for novice drivers

10. Penalties for Texting and Driving  $100 fine for 1 st offense  $200 fine for 2 nd offense within 10 years.  $300 fine and two-point drivers’ record penalty for third ticket.
