3 RUSSIA IN TRANSITION Students will learn about Russia- never a boring place! Before travel, students will learn about Russia's politics, society and culture as a prelude to learning about its business environment. In St. Petersburg, students will meet with faculty and students at St. Petersburg State University and the Graduate School of Management (GSOM), the best business school in Russia! Students will attend lectures at GSOM, work with their students, visit a variety of companies and round out your experience in Russia with a culturally relevant activities. Presentations will wrap up the week’s visit with GSOM.

4 WHAT/ WHEN/ WHO? One week travel preceded by pre departure academic sessions on campus, as well as online group assignments Travel during March break (March 14-23, 2014) 3 credits Pre-travel Academic Session and Elective Abroad Orientation meeting (on campus) are required

5 ELIGIBILITY Who’s eligible for the March Russia course? Two Year (second year) One Year Evening (having successfully completed 27 credits prior to travel in March, 2014)

6 RUSSIA IN TRANSITION Travel Dates: March 14th – 23rd, 2014 – arrive in St. Petersburg on March 15 th ; depart St. Petersburg on March 23 rd Travel City: St. Petersburg, Russia Min/Max number of students: 15/30 Deliverables: – Expectations/Pre-conceived notions of Russia Due: By first pre travel academic session – Follow-up of Expectation/Pre-conceived notions after returning from Russia Due April 7, 2014 – The effect of Russian politics and culture on the Russian business environment Due April 7, 2014 – The general Russian business environment and its effect on a non- Russian company either doing business or considering doing business in Russia Due April 7, 2014 What you need to know:

7 RUSSIA IN TRANSITION Required pre travel academic sessions: TBA (Late Feb/Early March, 2014; Fri/6-9pm AND Sat 9am- 3pm) Electives Abroad Orientation Sessions – Choose ONE date offered before your departure. Students will receive eligible dates in their course confirmation emails Post-course /wrap up session – Wrap up completed in country Program fee: $1,200 – Program fee includes: accommodations, breakfast, ground transportation, program planned meals and cultural excursions. – Not included: international flight, visa costs*, personal expenses, single room upgrade, meals not covered in program & tuition – *Research visa needs prior to accepting placement Tuition is separate charge, issued from and paid to SFS What you need to know:

9 BEFORE YOU APPLY Update Passport (shouldn’t expire before September 23 rd, 2014) Research the courses that interest you Research YOUR visa requirements-be aware some consulates may require visas to be acquired in home country for travel to Russia Check your calendar (and with your ‘shareholders’ to be sure you are ‘clear to go’!)

10 APPLICATION: IMPORTANT DATES Online LOTTERY application link - http://educationabroad.babson.eduhttp://educationabroad.babson.edu Application opens Tuesday, Sept 3 rd Application closes Wednesday, Sept 18 th (11:59pm) Placements sent (to Babson email): Friday, September 20 th Student Acceptance deadline: Friday, October 4 th – Acceptance Paperwork – Deposit check ($500), goes towards program fee – Copy of passport- submitted online Waitlist Application opens: Monday, September 23 rd (first come first, served- as spaces become available on courses) Final program fee payment (balance) due: Monday December 6 th Glavin Office registers students for the Electives Abroad

11 LOTTERY APPLICATION: PROCESS Online application link will be posted to Glavin website - http://educationabroad.babson.eduhttp://educationabroad.babson.edu The application will allow you to select up to three courses and will require you to indicate your order of preference for each course. Listing your preference for a course is considered a commitment to enroll. Doing otherwise will take away spaces from your fellow classmates. Student allocation for each course is done by a lottery system, with the exception of Ghana, which is a separate online application.

13 PAYMENTS AND ALTERNATIVE LOANS Any deposit to confirm a student’s enrollment (and the subsequent balance of the program fee) needs to be paid directly by the student to the Glavin Office Tuition will be paid directly to SFS Students can choose to borrow Federal Graduate PLUS Loans or private loans to help cover additional expenses
