1 Bucharest, 23 February 2005 Installing the CHM PTK Adriana Baciu Finsiel Romania

2 2 Step one  Machine to install on (for production purpose)  at least a PIII, 500 MHz  min. 256MB RAM, recommended 512 MB;  Zope DB may grow over 200 MB depending on utilization  Download and install the Zope Server from http://www.zope.org/Products/Zope/ (pay attention to the Readme when choosing Zope/Python version, Zope 2.6.4 was the higher version at release time, CHM PTK will not work for newer releases as they are not fully backward compatible) http://www.zope.org/Products/Zope/

3 3 Step one (continuation)  Choose and download the CHM PTK version from: http://biodiversity- chm.eea.eu.int/About/EC_CHM_Tools http://biodiversity- chm.eea.eu.int/About/EC_CHM_Tools  Retain from your operating system the information about  The server’s proxy address (if any)  The mail relay (if you want your CHM node to be able to send emails)  Not mandatory for installation, can be changed at a later time

4 4 Step two  Preparing the CHM PTK installation  Unpack the downloaded archive  Place *.zexp files in the ‘Import’ directory of your Zope installation  Access the Zope console http://yourwebsite/manage, go to Control Panel/Product Management and import the *.zexp products, one at a time (attn: Zope is case sensitive!)http://yourwebsite/manage

5 5 Step two (continuation)  Place all Python products in the ‘\lib\python\Products’ directory of your Zope installation  Place *.py files to be found in the archive in the ‘Extensions’ folder of your Zope installation  Restart your Zope server and check console ‘Control Panel/Product Management’ to see if all products are installed correctly.

6 6 Step three  Access Zope Console and choose from the addition dropdown to add a ‘CHM Portal’ (EIONET Portal for the v 1.0 of the PTK)  Provide requested information in the following forms (not mandatory, but the easiest way to do it )  You have now a fully functional CHM Node.
