Ghost Stories. Jorge Sánchez De Torre. English – 1º Bach. “A”

The story took place in April, John Moore decided to go to a village in a remote and quiet, because He had to study and prepare a very important exam. He went to a small town called Benchurch, and began looking for a house to rent for three months. He stayed in a hotel while looking for a home. Found a home with small windows, looked like a prison, he sought the counsel of the people, and who was in charge rent. He spoke with him and he rented the house. The Judge´s House.

He returned to the hotel and the hotel landlady, Mrs. Wood, told him a story about the house, the house of the judge. Villagers said the judge who lived in that house was a very ruthless and cruel man, the townspeople thought there was something wrong there. Hours later, John Moore went to the house, took as a maid to Mrs. Dempster. She prepared a place to sleep at home, a bed in the lounge. At night after working all day, he prepared tea and added fuel to the fire.

He began to hear the big noise that made the rats around the house. He remembered the words of Mrs. Dempster, told him he would hear many rats but no ghosts. Soon after, he went to sleep. The next day, he told Mrs. Dempster the noise made rats and one of them sat in a chair near the fireplace and looked at him menacingly near the rope alarm bell. The next night, he decided to buy a trap to catch the rat, he waited, saw the rat, but this went down the rope.

Again, after the rat away, he went to sleep. The next day, he went out for a walk, visited Mrs. Wood, this told him he was very pale and taking too much tea, there was the village doctor, and Mrs. Wood introduced him. John Moore told them his nocturnal experiences with rats and rope and noise that was in the house. The doctor told him that the rope was the one used when the judge condemned to death some of the inmates. The doctor told John Moore that if anything happened at night in the house that would make sound the alarm by pulling the rope.

That night, Moore sat down again in the lounge and watched as the big rat came back down the rope and stared at him, at the moment the rat disappeared climbing up the rope, Moore decided to investigate the hideout of the rat, observed a picture along the way, it was the portrait of the judge, to look into his eyes found that they were equal to those of the great rat. When he saw as the rat was there again, sitting on the judgment seat. Time passed, heard noises again and found that the rat was nibbling the rope until the cut, then he thought he could no longer use the rope to sound the alarm. He decided to go hunting in search of the rat, and suddenly he saw as the image of the judge was gone portrait.

Then appeared the judge sitting in the chair, grabbed the rope that was on the floor and began to prepare a knot, John Moore was very scared and felt cornered. The eyes of the judge did not separate of his eyes. The judge took the rope and put it in the neck of Moore, this was petrified, could not move, led him to the chair, tied the rope to rope and began to sound the alarm, shortly after the townspeople came including the doctor, but it was late, Moore was hanged and the judge appeared in the portrait, this time with a huge smirk.
