40 Days of prayer and fasting

“Jesus Prayed... ”

Luke 5:12-16 In one of the villages, Jesus met a man with an advanced case of leprosy. When the man saw Jesus, he fell to the ground, face down in the dust, begging to be healed. "Lord," he said, "if you want to, you can make me well again." Jesus reached out and touched the man. "I want to," he said. "Be healed!" And instantly the leprosy disappeared.

Luke 5:12-16 Then Jesus instructed him not to tell anyone what had happened. He said, "Go right to the priest and let him examine you. Take along the offering required in the law of Moses for those who have been healed of leprosy, so everyone will have proof of your healing." Yet despite Jesus' instructions, the report of his power spread even faster, and vast crowds came to hear him preach and to be healed of their diseases. But Jesus often withdrew to the wilderness for prayer.

We need to make prayer a priority in our lives.

Prayer does not prepare us for the greater work; prayer is the greater work. Oswald Chambers

Two Questions:

Mark 1:35-38... Jesus awoke long before daybreak and went out alone into the wilderness to pray. Later Simon and the others went out to find him. They said, "Everyone is asking for you." But he replied, "We must go on to other towns as well, and I will preach to them, too, because that is why I came."

Praying give us direction. Praying points our spiritual compasses to “True North”.

Matthew 14:32-36 And they came to an olive grove called Gethsemane, and Jesus said, "Sit here while I go and pray." He took Peter, James, and John with him, and he began to be filled with horror and deep distress. He told them, "My soul is crushed with grief to the point of death. Stay here and watch with me."

Matthew 14:32-36 He went on a little farther and fell face down on the ground. He prayed that, if it were possible, the awful hour awaiting him might pass him by. "Abba, Father," he said, "everything is possible for you. Please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will, not mine."

Praying allows God to show His will for our lives.

John 5:30... I do nothing without consulting the Father.

Luke 6:12-13 One day soon afterward Jesus went to a mountain to pray, and he prayed to God all night. At daybreak he called together all of his disciples and chose twelve of them to be apostles.

Praying allows us to make Godly decisions.

There is an enormous difference between a good decision and a God decision.

We need to make prayer a priority in our lives.  Praying give us direction.  Praying allows God’s to show His will for our lives.  Praying allows us to make Godly decisions.
