Took a little less than a week to receive this one. As long as they are in stock at Futek and Maxwell Bennett Associates isn’t backed up, we shouldn’t have a problem. Contingency Plan: Find another company with load cells or borrow from Dr. Day. Motor has been order by Anaheim Automation and was ordered to be used with the current motor controller. Have received motor and are satisfied with its abilities. Stress/Strain Correlation ((Functionality) CriticalJoseph Ferrara There has been a lot of literature research done. Multiple papers have shown different ways to quantify stress/strain. Must adapt their ideas to the machine we create. Tolerance of Clamping SystemCriticalJoseph Church Due to the small displacements and loads created by this system, when mounting the test specimen, the mounting device must all be identical in length to ensure equibiaxial tension. Ordering Mechanical Parts (Time) CriticalJoseph Ferrara Lead screws must be ordered. Depending on the company they are purchased from (McMaster-Carr or other) they must arrive in an applicable time frame. Contingency: Reuse the lead screws from the current membrane indenter. Bearings/Thompson Rods are all necessary to be ordered within spec so that the machine glides nicely. Nothing should be special order. Lead time should be minimum. Contingency: Find another online retailer.

9 P09045: Membrane Characterization Test Stand 7/5/2016 P09045: Membrane Characterization Test Stand 9 Risk/Mitigation Plan Wiring (electrical) organization (Performance/Quality) CriticalJamie Jackson As seen on the previous membrane indenter, the load cell wire can get caught in the lead screws and be mangled. Avoiding this on this design would be ideal. Clamping MethodCriticalJoseph Ferrara Mounting the sample with sutures could provide human error as far as the placement of multiple sutures on one side. Other option would be to make a clamping system. The clamping system could over constrain the membrane material. Plan: Test the two examples in ANSYS. Result: Central region deforms the same; edges are much more distorted with sutures. Lead Time for Labview CodingCriticalJoshua Van Hook Josh needs to be able to create a labview program that can run a motor and collect data from two load cells. Also must have code to trigger and take pictures with a high speed camera. Rework on the program is expected, however, rework must be minimized. Contingency: Professor Wellin is creating a program that uses a high speed camera and then takes the pictures from the camera and can measure displacement fields using a gridding pattern. MachiningCriticalJoseph Ferrara Tolerances and accuracy must be used in machining the equipment to make sure that everything glides smoothly and reduces friction to a minimum. Cycle TimeLowJoshua Van Hook Cycle time must be minimal but not overly important. Ideally, a test would be complete in one minute. Downtime/ReworkCriticalAllDowntime/Rework must be minimal. Project group is already a bit behind as far as the schedule. A broken machine would not be ideal nor would rework. We cannot afford to reorder any electrical parts either.
