2. A pronoun is a word that takes the place of a noun. Pronouns  Example: Mr. Paris is the coolest English teacher. He gives the best homework assignments!  What word in the second sentence is taking the place of “Mr. Paris”?  “He” takes the place of “Mr. Paris.”  Example: The puppy took 45 minutes to get ready for the party. She looked beautiful.  What word in the second sentence is taking the place of “puppy”?  In this example, “she” takes the place of “puppy.”

3. An antecedent is the word (or words) that a pronoun refers to, that a pronoun replaces Ms. Kenney said she loves to grade papers.
