“A Dog for Rock” “A & P” “Araby” “Eveline”

3 A. “A Dog for Rock”: Mauro Senesi’s story “A Dog for Rock” features a character whose actions alone may label him as evil or immoral. In a well-organized essay, explain how the full presentation of this character causes the reader to react more sympathetically than would otherwise be expected. Avoid plot summary. B. “A & P”: Explain how the narrator of “A & P” reveals his own values, virtues, and vices—as well as those of the other characters. C. “Araby”: Explain the ways in which the narrator’s relationship with the other characters has an impact on the theme of the short story, “Araby.” D. “Eveline”: James Joyce once wrote that he chose to set his narratives in Dublin “because that city seemed to me to be the center of paralysis.” In a well-developed essay, explain how the narrator applies the phrase “center of paralysis” to the protagonist in “Eveline.” ESSAY PROMPTS:
