EGN 1935: ECE (Ad)ventures Team: SeaConn Robot: Link Spring 2014 Team Members Craig Ashmeade Nicholas D’Agostino Octavio Mejia Carlos Murillo

Summary Team Member Biographies Link’s Quest Video Team Conclusions

Craig Ashmeade Bio First year Freshman Electrical Engineering I learned some simple thinking strategies as well as information on circuits and electrical systems. I also learned about the various different opportunities and activities related to electrical and computer engineering here at UF. I plan to graduate UF with a degree in Electrical Engineering and then attend medical school to become a physician and eventually a neurologist. My advice to future students is to pay attention and take in the plethora of information offered in this class; it will help give you an idea of what you will need to know and what you'll be able to handle in the future here.

Nicholas D’Agostino Bio Freshman (2EG) Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering Learned how to translate music notes into frequencies that will play on a Piezo buzzer -Now have a basic understanding of the roles of EE,CE, and ME in Robot projects Discovered that Robots are cool but not very interested in it -Most likely will try out different projects while at UF

Octavio Mejia Bio – Sophomore, Class of 2016 – Dual Major in Political Science/ History – What you gained/learned in this course Engineering lives up to its reputation being difficult, but it can sure be fun. – How will this course affect you in the future I will sure understand when people talk about circuit boards, and have a little bit of knowledge in robots as a non engineering major. – UF plans and goals Planning to attend UF Law after undergrad – Career plans and goals Corporate Lawyer or Trail Lawyer – Words of wisdom to pass on to the next group of students (or your brother/sister) Do not give up because it’s difficult, life itself is full of obstacles you must overcome.

Carlos Murillo Bio 2 nd Semester Freshman Mechanical Engineering Learned about circuit boards and how to wire them, how batteries work, how sensors work, as well as the basic concepts of an autonomous robot. Gained experience with engineering concepts that will help provide confidence in future projects. At UF, I will get involved in ME labs that interest me in the future. I want to work for a big aerospace company as a head engineer. At UF you have everything possible at your disposal to explore your passion and succeed.

Link’s Quest On his way to save Princess Zelda from Ganon, Link had to navigate through the maze and reach the end to fight the boss of the dungeon; however, as soon as he entered, Link was blinded by the bright light that shown down from above and was sadly never able to recover.

Team Conclusions ECE (Ad)ventures provided a hands on engineering experience that is hard to come by at UF as a freshman. It provides you with all the basic knowledge needed to continue as an electrical engineer, and introduces basic concepts in computer and mechanical engineering. It is a great class to test the waters in engineering and build your confidence.
