BULLYING Never be bullied into silence. Never allow yourself to be made a victim. “ “

Bullying is being mean to another kid over and over again. Bullying often includes: Teasing Talking about hurting someone Spreading rumors Leaving kids out on purpose Attacking someone by hitting them or yelling at them

YAVARS ARE HERE TO HELP

THE STORY OF YAVARS The school consular asked the teachers to tell her who the most caring and kind student were then she created what we call “Yavar” this when someone helps the people around them. We are here for the kids to look up to us as their older brother or sister. The word ‘Yavar’ is an Iranian word that when translated to English there is no word for it. But as Persian word “Yavar” translates to individuals that volunteer to help others willingly.

MEET THE CREW

OUR VISION Our vision is to help kids and be there for the kids that need help and are too scared. The main goals for Yavar is to help others improve their social and individual skills. Also to help them understand problems they may come across and how they can deal with it.

ACTIVITIES Role playing Painting Movies Awarding them And lots of other fun and educational activities

WHAT WE DID AND THE OUTCOMES Speech We gave the kids (Year1-10) a speech about bullying. The outcome we found was that it did not have much impact on them that we had hoped it to have; they didn’t understand the importance of the subject. Activity We gave kids different activities like; A picture of a tongue to show the kids the difference between a tattletale and reporting a person being bullied (Year 1-2) A contract for the kids to sign agreeing to not bully (Year 3-4) A survey for the kids to evaluate themselves and see if they have been bullied or been a bully (Year 4-7) We gave the kids toothpaste and asked them to empty it to show them the power their words have and how it can’t be taken back (Year 1-3) We gave them a sheet of paper so they would write things about themselves showing how unique they are (Year 5-6) We also asked them to take a piece of paper, crumble it but make sure it doesn’t get ripped. Then we asked them to apologize to it. This showed the kids how words can leave scars and saying sorry wont make it okay (Year 3-4) The outcome was that the kids completely understood the importance of the subject

THE SURVEY A small deaf boy in year 4 went home after signing this survey and told his mum happily “Mum mum all the kids signed this and they aren't going to bully anyone anymore” then he went and stuck the survey up on his cupboard door. He used to get bullied a lot and for the first time he had gone to sleep with no worries.

SURVEY When this activity was taking place with year 5’s and 9 th grader was passing and he sees the survey and asks to fill it in and then asks the Yavars to give it to the school consular and it ends up that the boy was being bullied badly and wanted help.
