Project Document Number GTMP-5076 L-1011_mod1 Balsa & 2 layers of carbon cloth installed over the plate

Project Document Number GTMP-5076 L-1011_mod1 (cam-block drawing)

Project Document Number GTMP-5076 L-1011_mod1 (inboard main gear plate drawing)

Project Document Number GTMP-5076 L-1011_mod1 (main plate drawing)

Project Document Number GTMP-5076 L-1011_mod1 END  Total weight increase for “L-1011_mod1” was 4.13 lbs.  Higher wing loading for the pilots.  More forgiving on hard landings however the main gear assemblies need replacing more often.  Some time involve in setting the main gear assembly orientation so that it operate correctly.  Labor to do the upgrades was 60 man-hours.  A better design would have the main plate sitting on top of the OEM paper tube. FINAL RESULTS & CONCLUSIONS
