Why God Created the Universe

Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for Thou hast created all things, and for Thy pleasure they are and were created. [Revelation 4:11]

For by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by Him, and for Him. [Colossians 1:16]

For of Him, and through Him and to Him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen. [Romans 11:36]

God Created the Universe for His Glory

God Chose Israel for His Glory

But now, O Jacob, listen to the L ORD who created you. O Israel, the One who formed you says, “Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are Mine [Isaiah 43:1]

Bring all who claim me as their God, for I have made them for My glory. It was I who created them. [Isaiah 43:7]

Why God Chose Israel?

6 For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto Himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth. 7 The LORD did not set His love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people: 8 But because the LORD loved you, and because He would keep the oath which He had sworn unto your fathers, hath the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. [Deuteronomy 7:6-8]

And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all His commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: 2 And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the L ORD thy God. 3 Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field. [Deuteronomy 28:1-3]

Bring all who claim me as their God, for I have made them for My glory. It was I who created them. [Isaiah 43:7]

How To Glorify

The Glory of God The glory of God is the sum total of God’s attributes – Omnipotence, Omnipresence, Omniscience, Eternality; other attributes such as God’s greatness, goodness, love, mercy, holiness, justice, etc.

Glorify God To glorify God is to recognize God for who God is – His Being, His Character, His attributes – and what God has done; and to render what is due to God.

How To Glorify

Worship

1 Give unto the L ORD, O ye mighty, give unto the L ORD glory and strength. 2 Give unto the L ORD the glory due unto His name; worship the L ORD in the beauty of holiness. [Psalm 29:1-2]

[Psalm 50:23] Glorieth Me Whoso offereth

Declaration of God’s Glory

Let them give glory unto the LORD, and declare His praise in the islands. [Isaiah 42:12]

The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth His handywork. [Psalm 19:1]

Fulfillment of God’s Will

I have glorified Thee on the earth: I have finished the work which Thou gavest Me to do. [John 17:4]

My meat is do the will of Him that sent Me, and to finish His work. [John 4:34]

I seek not mine own glory. [John 8:50]

Suffering in Fulfillment of God’s Will

18 Very truly I tell you, when you were younger you dressed yourself and went where you wanted; but when you are old you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go.” 19 Jesus said this to indicate the kind of death by which Peter would glorify God. Then He said to him, “Follow me!” [John 21:18-19]

Fruitful Life

Herein is My Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be My disciples. [John 15:8]

Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God. [Philippians 1:11]

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. [Galatians 5:22-23]

They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing [Psalm 92:14]

Good Works

Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven. [Matthew 5:16]

God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with Him. [Acts 10:38]

Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. [1 Corinthians 10:31]
