4 Based at Rough Sleepers centre Open 22-30 Dec 2010 Shift times: –2215 - 0830 hours –0745 – 1600 hours –1515 – 2300 hours CC Dogs Service

5 standard policy – maximum of 2 dogs per guest Each request to bring in more than 2 dogs considered on a case by case basis Decision to allow more than 2 dogs per guest made by Dogs SO &/or Shift Leader CC Dogs Service Policy

6 All guests using the service must read and sign the Dogs Policy Signed copies must be stored carefully Important additional information to be recordedon ‘Extra information’ sheet

7 1.ALL dogs must be signed in by their owner. All dog and owner information must be completed on the sign in sheet. 2.Write the dog information on the white board and note that the Dog Policy has been signed by the guest. All guests MUST be given a wrist band. 3.Do not write any additional information on the Dogs Policy. Use the ‘Extra Information’ sheet to record any important additional information and inform the Service Organiser or Team Leader on your shift. Ground Rules for Volunteers x 9

8 4.Dogs are to be fed twice a day between 8 and 10 am & 8 and 10 pm. Owners are made aware of this when the dogs are signed in. Please check specific requirements of the dog’s diet on the sign in sheet BEFORE feeding them. 5.DO NOT change the diet for any dog as this can cause upset to the guest. Dogs may get upset stomachs during their time at Crisis At Christmas. If this occurs, inform the Service Organiser immediately. 6.Dogs must always have access to fresh water. This is a legal requirement so volunteers must ensure that water bowls are replenished, even if the dogs has knocked it over! Ground Rules for Volunteers x 9

9 7.Water is to be collected and disposed of in designated areas. 8.A vet and animal welfare officer will visit on 24, 26 & 28 December. Owners must be present during a vet visit for their dog. Volunteers must NOT stand in for the owner or discuss treatment for a dog unless this has been pre-arranged with the Service Organiser. 9.Dog owners must return to see their dog/s at least once during each 24 hour period unless pre-arranged with the Service Organiser or Team Leader. 10 1. Please follow agreed policies 2. Follow health & safety guidelines 3. Each guest must read and sign the Dogs Policy 4. Maintain high standards in paperwork Manual in the base will have a copy of the Dogs Info Sheet, CC policies & Volunteer Handbook CC Policies & Procedures

11 Be flexible & work as a team Turn up for your shifts on time Dress in comfortable, warm clothes Bring additional layers of clothing Bring only small amounts of money Please do not give money to our guests Important points to remember
