3 Eritrea became an Italian colony in 1890 and is located along the Red Sea. 4 ● During the 1930s, Ethiopia was captured by Italy but regained its freedom and independence after WWII and Eritrea was awarded to Ethiopia. Ethiopia, instead of letting Eritrea be in control of their own affairs, instead dissolved the Eritrean legislature and banned the use of one of their important languages, Tigrinya. The Eritreans, upset by this, rebelled against Ethiopia and fought in a 30 year war for their independence. Major Cause of Conflict The 3 main countries. (Ethiopia, Eritrea, and Italian influence). 6 ● Once Eritrea became a part of Ethiopia, Ethiopia took away a lot of their rights, including banning the use of one of their languages, Tigrinya, which was a very important use of communication throughout their country before they became owned by Ethiopia. Once Eritrea was an independent country again, Tirginya was installed once again as one of the country’s working languages. Cultural Conflict Alphabet. (n.d.). 9 Eritrea needs to become more humane and globalized; they are taking for granted their place in the United Nations Both countries should try peaceful resistance instead of constantly fighting because the number of battles and accusations is beyond significant. ; also, both countries do not have the money and back-up force to maintain fighting, or they will be wading in large amounts of debt for centuries to come. Battles between Eritrea and Ethiopia should have been televised so more countries would see what is happening and actually know the violence committed by both sides. Our Hypotheses

10 1)What country was Ertirea and Ethiopia a colony of? 2)How long did Ertirea’s fight for freedom last? 3)What language was banned in Eritrea? 4)What region of Africa are Ethiopia and Ertirea in? 5)Have Eritrea and Ethiopia resolved their disputes today? 5 Questions
