3 Many traditional french songs were covered in modern musical styles and then became dances. Some examples :

4 « La vie en rose » This famous love song performed by Edith Piaf in 1947 was covered 30 years later by Grace Jones in a disco version.

6 « Le temps des cerises » This song from the late 19 th century refers to both a lost love and a failed revolution. It was sung by Yves Montand in 1955. The band « Noir Désir » who covered this song in 2008 made a rock version.

8 « Ne me quitte pas » In 1959, Jacques Brel composed this song about a breakup. 40 years later the song was covered by Hamed Daye, becoming a hip hop dance.

10 « La Marseillaise » This is the french national anthem written by Rouget de Lisle in 1792. Serge Gainsbourg turned it into a reggae dance in 1979.
