4 HRT Service Population – 1.3 Million Approximately 1100 Employees (Union and Administration) 322 Fixed Route Buses, 74 Paratransit Vehicles, 3 Ferries, 9 Light Rail Vehicles, and TRAFFIX Alternative Transportation August 2011 - Opened 7.4 Mile Light Rail through City of Norfolk – Medical Center to the Virginia Beach line In 2015, transit allowed the region to avoid 45 Million Vehicle Miles Major Agency Projects: Downtown Norfolk Transit Center – Completed January 2016 HRT Economic Impacts Study – Completed May 2016 Extension of Light Rail 3.47 Miles to Virginia Beach Town Center – Ongoing Peninsula Corridor Study – 18 Month Study Naval Station Norfolk Transit Extension Corridor Study – DEIS In Process

7 May 2015 – Locally Preferred Alternative and technology selected Connect Norfolk to Virginia Beach Town Center Increase Connectivity and Mobility Options Support Virginia Beach’s Plan – New Growth, Mixed-Use Corridor What’s included: New at-grade stations at Witchduck, Kellam and Constitution, above-grade crossings over Witchduck and Independence Boulevard, All other crossings at-grade - requiring railroad crossing signals, parking garages and a walk-on station, multi-use pathway paralleling the tracks to support pedestrians and cyclists April 2016 – MOU preserving funding, outlining roles and responsibilities and allowing HRT to submit a funding application for light rail vehicles. Final decision whether to purchase cars - after possible fall light rail referendum
