1 ATLAS TRT Duke University CERN, Feb. 2003 1 Fuse Box Status Duke University

2 ATLAS TRT Duke University CERN, Feb. 2003 2 Latest Fuse Box Design  1 type of fuse box for each module type  Dimension: R x  x Z u Based on June, 2001 prototype fuse size: 2.4 x 5.8x 4.3 mm u Type 1 : 71 x 20.15 x 12 mm u Type 2 : 98 x 20.15 x 12 mm u Type 3 : 148 x 20.15 x 12 mm  HV granularity: u Type 1: 6 HV lines/module = 3/fuse box u Type 2: 6 HV lines/module = 3/fuse box u Type 3: 10 HV lines/module = 5/fuse box  Current draw range: u type 1: 565uA – 1,087uA per HV line u type 2: 999uA – 1,253uA per HV line u type 3: 498uA – 735uA per HV line

3 ATLAS TRT Duke University CERN, Feb. 2003 3 Beam test prototype  Simulates actual fuse box, except fuses and HV cables.

4 ATLAS TRT Duke University CERN, Feb. 2003 4 Summary  All components & design within fuse box are defined. u Max current draw per HV line is 1,253uA u Max number of straws per HV line is 96 (192 ch)  Yet to be defined components outside the fuse box: u HV connector at PPB1 u Fuse box ground connection at cooling plate or roof board  Parts are being quoted for manufacture, expect to start production ……  Fuse size can impact fuse box dimension. If it’s different from 2001 prototype we need to know ASAP.
