2. POLITO OPTIMUS 2 DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY  The Department of Energy (DENERG) derives from the fusion of the Department of Energetics (DENER) and of the Department of Electrical Engineering (DELET).  The former Department of Energetics (DENER) was involved in research activities focussed on technological innovation and efficiency in systems and components currently in use for the transformation, distribution and utilisation of energy.  DENER developed methods, instruments and techniques to control the environmental effects of the energy and transportation systems.

3. POLITO OPTIMUS 3 TEBE RESEARCH GROUP  The TEBE (Technology Energy Building Environment ) research team is involved in research topics referred to  the fundamental and applied aspects of thermo-fluidynamics  heat transfer  energetics  lighting  acoustics  in the field of  industrial, civil and environmental engineering  urban planning, architecture and industrial design

5. POLITO OPTIMUS 5 SOME POLITO PROJECTS  CIP-IEE-2012: Energy Performance Indicator Tracking Schemes for the Continuous Optimisation of Refurbishment Processes in European Housing Stocks. EPISCOPE (2013-15)  FP7-2011-ICT-7: Semantic Technologies for Carbon Reduction in Urban Planning - SEMANCO (2011-14), aiming to design, implement and evaluate a semantic-based energy information framework and a suite of tools to support the decision making of the different stakeholders involved in energy related urban planning at the neighbourhood, municipal and regional level  CIP-IEE-2008: Typology Approach for Building Stock Energy Assessment - TABULA (2009-12), aiming to create a harmonised structure for European Building Typologies;  IEA-ECBCS Annex 53 “Total Energy Use in Buildings” of the International Energy Agency (2008-12), aiming to strengthening the robust prediction of energy usage in buildings, thus enabling the proper assessment of short- and long-term energy measures, policies, technologies.  EIE-05: Collecting DATA from energy certification to Monitor performance Indicators for New and Existing buildings - DATAMINE (2006-08), using Energy Performance (EP) Certificates as a data source for monitoring purposes,  Regional Project “Development and application of wireless technology for building energy and environmental audit” – DAWNING (2007-11)
