2 Drama Drama is another word for a play
Prologue is an introduction to a play or scene Protagonist is the good guy or girl Antagonist is the bad guy or girl

3 Characteristics of Drama
Stage Directions are given throughout the play (in brackets, italics, etc…) they tell how the play is performed. 2. The Script tells the spoken words of the play

4 Types of Drama Comedy: a funny play that ends happily, and usually with a marriage.

5 TYPES OF DRAMA Tragedy: a play that ends unhappily, usually with death

6 Dramatic Irony when the reader/audience knows something important that a character does not know.

7 Situational Irony when the outcome is not what is expected

8 Verbal Irony When what is said is the opposite of what is actually meant or the real meaning of the words is disguised

9 The prologue is the introduction to a play or scene

Drama Terms Soliloquy: the inner-thoughts of a character. The character is usually alone on the stage, either speaking to himself or the audience. Because dramas are meant to be performed, the character has to voice what is going on in his head. Other characters are not meant to hear the soliloquy.
