2. Outline of the Book of Titus The church needs authentic leadership and will be destroyed by false teachers - Titus 1:1-16. True Christian leaders live by the gospel and their actions reflect their faith. Practice good works. Obey the government. Be considerate to everyone - Titus 2:1-3:8. Discipline false teachers and troublemakers. Cut them out of the church to keep it pure - Titus 3:9-15.

Responsibilities of the Church Paul admonished Titus to remind believers under his care of their attitude toward : The unsaved rulers and people in general v1 Their previous state – lost in sin v3 Their gracious salvation through Jesus Christ v4-7 Their righteous testimony to the unsaved world v8 Their responsibility to oppose false teachers 9-11 All these matters are essential to effective evangelism

Submission to the authority Rom 13:1-7, 1 Pet 2:12-17 God makes a person King or President Keep the laws of the land and Live peaceable lives Dealing with unbelievers mankind in general Do not speak evil against even our enemy We are to be peacemakers (Humility) Talking about others – thinking it will make him look better, we should be building people

5. Responsibilities of the Church Their previous state – lost in sin v3 Perfect description of all of us before we came to Jesus This is the way of the world, way of the flesh. Selfish, unsaved people do all the things above. They are listening to the lust of their flesh Until we receive the pattern of the Perfect Love of Jesus, we do not know how to love. Example Mark 12:30-31.

Convey 1 Timothy 2:3-6 God wants all men to be saved Jesus thought they were worth dying for If we would truly see people who are unsaved in the same way Jesus does, our lives would be revolutionized. 17. Obey Titus 3:1 Remind the people ….. 1 Pet 2:13 Submit yourselves What do we do when man’s laws conflict with God’s laws? Can you break the laws ? Key to spiritual revival in our country is not found in the Court House or the White House… it’s found in the CHURCH HOUSE and OUR OWN HOUSE! 3

18. Display (Walk) Titus 3:2 Kind of Christianity that we display to the rest of the world. Don’t be up in arms about the 10 Commandments being removed from a court building if they have already been removed from your life! If we are going to make a difference in this nation’s spiritual climate, then we need to be a people who display what Jesus is all about! Matt 5:14-16 4
