2 Deserts ► Gobi Desert o Located in Mongolia and Northern China o Mostly made up of bare rock, rather than sand. o Few people live in the desert, and if they do are nomadic herders. Winters are harsh, January average low -40 degrees Fahrenheit & July average high 113 degrees Fahrenheit. Severe dryness limits vegetation; few plants and shrubs that grow.

3 Deserts ► Taklimakan Desert o Located in western China o Desertification is a major concern for the farmers and animals who live at the desert's edge.
