4 Different Techniques Swedish Massage –Based on Pehr Ling’s “General Principles of Gymnastics” approximately 1800 –Johann Mezger (1875) Dutch physician –“effleurage, petrissage, friction, tapotement” –Two US physicians - the Taylors - brought home the “Swedish movement cure”
