3 29.Märts 2012 Work in countries: collaborative agreements Work bases on the biannual collaborative agreements (BCAs) between WHO Regional Office and Ministry of Health (or Government) BCA: … corresponds to the WHO Medium-term strategic plan, which defines strategic objectives for WHO and its Member States … bases on the on analyses of the public health situation and health needs taking into account WHO global priorities … contains key priority areas, priorities, universal outcomes (achievements) and country tailored outputs (products and services) … implementation is the responsibility of both the WHO Secretariat and the government of the individual Member State.

4 29.Märts 2012 Way of working The intercountry mode, which addresses the common needs of countries through region- wide approaches. The multicountry mode is used when an output within an outcome is relevant to a limited number of countries. The country-specific mode of operation is used for outputs that are highly specific to the needs and circumstances of individual countries.

10 29.Märts 2012 Non-Communicable Diseases, Health Promotion and Healthy Lifestyles Feedback on the national plans for NCD, incl nutrition, integrated to NHP 2009–2020. National policy making and capacity development workshops in injury prevention Develop the curricula for nutrition counsellors/specialists and scale up the training system and accreditation/recognition of those specialists. Develop practices how to interact with food industry to reduce the levels of salt or other selected nutrients on the processed foods Set the standards in the area of marketing of food and non-alcoholic beverages to children Technical advice to the development of Green Paper on Tobacco control policies based on latest global and regional evidence as well as best practices available for implementation of recommendations provided by the Capacity building and technical assistance to implement youth and adult surveys in countries

11 29.Märts 2012 Communicable Diseases, Health Security and Environment Assessment and support to Member States to reach the IHR national core capacity requirements for surveillance and response Strategic and technical support to scale up the TB control, including advice on how to reach targeted groups (with addressing SDH) as well manage MDR-TB Assistance to MS to produce policies and tools based on WHO guidance and standards and WHO Action Plan for HIV/AIDS 2012-2015. Assistance implementing recommendations of external evaluation. Technical guidance on increasing number of drug dependent patients in treatment for drug dependence with different substances and ensure close links between involved sectors. Training courses on the prevention of hospital acquired infections

12 29.Märts 2012 Health Information, Evidence, Research and Innovation Policy Dialogue on health information systems (incl e-health) and technical advice to Estonia strengthen health information system Draft and launch the Health System Review (HiT) Targeted capacity building program to develop a comprehensive approach (indicators, process & methods) for monitoring of the social determinants & health equity
